Workshops Coming Up...

Registration is underway for the 15th Annual Technical Update Workshops. And...we have something brand new and exciting planned for you in June!

It's time to register for the 15th Annual Technical Update Workshops to be held in February. This year we have workshops in Electricity/Electronics, Drafting, Automotive, Diesel/Power Mechanics, Collision Repair, Welding, Building Construction, and Masonry. Workshops will be held in Vance, Tarrant, and Tuscaloosa. Check out the registration page for information on your workshop.

The deadline to register is February 1, 2010. Last year we had to turn away a few teachers because some workshops filled up, so get your registration in early. And don't forget, CTC members can register for a discount!

Coming in June...The first annual Education by Design Technical Training Conference. This is the conference teachers have been asking for. The two-day conference is planned by business and industry to make sure teachers get the program information they need. Workshops will be conducted by industry representatives and experts in the program areas. There will be exhibitors and workshops for every area of career technical education. And the entire conference provides professional development credit. Registration is now open.

Kamron Thomas, a senior from Blount High School, and George McAlman, a junior from Williamson High School, recently became the first students ever from Faulkner Career Technical Center to pass the AWS welding qualification test using 7018 electrode. The AWS test is a difficult weld because it is done in a vertical 3G and overhead 4G position. The test was conducted at WESCO Welding Supply, an AWS certified testing facility in Pritchard, AL.
